Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme — cashless treatment for veterans and their dependants.
Last updated: 31 Aug 2026
What is ECHS?
The Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) provides cashless medical cover to ex-servicemen and their dependants through a network of ECHS polyclinics and empanelled hospitals across India. Treatment is delivered on entitlement-based scales fixed by the Ministry of Defence.
On DOkTM, providers that accept ECHS beneficiaries show an ECHS column on their card. Entitlement-based treatment means a fixed "Entitlement based" tag appears rather than a rupee price.

How to use your ECHS cover with DOkTM
- Carry your valid ECHS smart card and a referral from your parent polyclinic.
- On DOkTM, search for your service and filter for providers accepting ECHS.
- Send a quotation request so the empanelled hospital can confirm referral, pre-authorisation and entitlement.
